The GAO recently published a report on Veteran Affairs contracting and finds that improvements in buying medical and surgical supplies could yield cost savings and efficiency. The VA launched a new program last year, MSPV-NG, to streamline the way its medical centers buy supplies for treating 7 million vets. The GAO report evaluated the MSVP-NG program. According to the GAO report, “the program has yet to achieve key goals of cost savings and greater efficiency.” In turn, the report goes on to include 10 recommendations for how the VA can “better manage future phases of the program and improve its purchasing.” Read More.
