Motivated to conserve financial resources and protect the environment, a growing number of hospitals have committed to using such reprocessed medical devices as orthopedic drill bits, heart monitor catheters and more.
 The practice continues to generate debate, but advocates say there are overriding reasons to go the reprocessing route. They say reprocessing saves hospitals considerable money on device purchases—as much as 50 to 60 percent—at a time of heightened emphasis on prudent financial management….
