IT’S NO SECRET that supply chain costs are health care facilities’ second largest expense. Many supply chain professionals help their organizations mitigate those expenses by implementing single-use device (SUD) reprocessing and growing existing programs. In fact, in 2018 reprocessing SUDs helped nearly 3,500 health systems save $339.5 million in supply costs and divert 13.2 million pounds of waste from landfills. SUD reprocessing programs have also enabled some health systems to do more to advance their mission of improving the health of their communities.
