WASHINGTON — Accelerating use of reforms such as patient-centered medical homes and new Medicare pay policies could slow healthcare spending by $2 trillion over the next decade, the Commonwealth Fund reported Thursday.
The federal government could save more than $1 trillion alone if a specific set of 10 broad reforms to the way healthcare is delivered and rewarded are enacted, according to the study, entitled Stabilizing U.S. Health Spending While Moving Toward a High Performance Health Care System….
